Interfraternity Council

The Interfraternity Council (IFC) is the governing council for 32 of our men’s fraternities, most of which are associated with the North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC). IFC plans and implements various educational and leadership programs for its chapter members, while also providing guidance for policy, procedure, recruitment, academic issues, and governance.

Below are the links that will provide you with important information for IFC Recruitment. It is required to fill out the interest form if you would like to join one of our chapters. In addition to filling out the interest form, you must also:

  • Have at least a 2.5 Cumulative GPA (This may vary based on the chapter you are interested in)
  • Attend an Adam’s Law/Information Session
  • Sign up via HokieSpa by following the instructions below:
    • Scroll to the bottom and click on“Student Organizations”
    • Click on “Fraternity and Sorority Life"
    • Select IFC - Interfraternity Council
    • Complete the Grade Release and Commitment to a Hazing-Free Fraternity and Sorority Life Experience Form

The following organizations have lost recognition at Virginia Tech and are not permitted to operate on campus:

  • Delta Kappa Epsilon - Eligible to request to return Fall '28
    • Found responsible for the following policy violations while on Deferred Suspension in Spring 2018: Hazing, Alcoholic Beverage, Interference with the Student Conduct Process, and Failure to Observe Rules/Regulations
  • Kappa Sigma - Eligible to request to return Fall '18
    • Found responsible for the following policy violations while on Deferred Suspension in Fall 2015: Hazing, Alcoholic Beverage, Failure to Observe Rules/Regulations, and Involvement in a University Violation
    • As of 6/1/22, Kappa Sigma has not been invited to return to campus.
  • Pi Kappa Phi - Eligible to request to return Fall '25
    • Found responsible for the following policy violations while on Deferred Suspension in Spring 2021: Alcoholic Beverage, Damage and Destruction, Endangerment, Failure to Observe Rules and Regulations, and Disorderly or Disruptive Conduct.
  • Pi Lambda Phi - Eligible to request to return Spring '28
    • Found responsible for the following policy violations while on Deferred Suspension in Spring 2023: Hazing, Alcoholic Beverage, and Failure to Comply with a University Official.
  • Sigma Chi - Eligible to request to return Fall '23
    • Found responsible for the following policy violations while on Deferred Suspension in Spring 2018: Alcoholic Beverage, Failure to Comply with a University Official, Furnishing False Information, and Interference with the Student Conduct Process

 

Additionally, several local organizations have no affiliation with the university and are not connected to the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life OR IFC, such as Gold Club, Omega Alpha Kappa (OAK) and Center Club.
