Chapters

The fraternity and sorority community at Virginia Tech is comprised of 57 active and vibrant chapters governed by four councils: Interfraternity Council (IFC); National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC); Panhellenic Council (PHC); and the United Council of Fraternities and Sororities (UCFS).

While Virginia Tech is home to many Greek-lettered organizations (professional, honor, service, and local), the chapters listed below are currently recognized by Fraternity and Sorority Life as men’s and women’s general fraternities/sororities and receive guidance in the areas of community development, leadership and learning, and strategic planning. Each of these chapters is supported by a larger inter/national organization, which provides membership education, leadership programming, educational resources, and risk management programming materials. Alumni support in the form of chapter advisory councils and alumni associations aid in collaborative efforts to promote values-based, purposeful experiences for chapter members.

Each year, the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life creates a scorecard that provides a snapshot about each chapter in our community. Within this guide you will learn more about community development, leadership education, our governing councils, and gain insight into the chapters that make up the Fraternity and Sorority Life community. What is offered in this guide should not be the sole basis for understanding the community. Members, potential members, families, and friends are encouraged to visit chapter websites, contact the chapter directly, or email gogreek@vt.edu for clarification or context.
