Tau Kappa Epsilon
Xi Omega Chapter
On January 10, 1899,Charles Roy Atkinson, Clarence A. Mayer, James C. McNutt, Joseph L. Settles, and Owen I. Truitt met at 504 East Locust Street in Bloomington, Illinois and drew up the first constitution for a new fraternity at Illinois Wesleyan University. The purpose of the new organization was to be an "aid to college men in mental, moral and social development." The founders sought to be a different organization than the other fraternities at the time by establishing a fraternity where membership would be based on personal worth and character rather than wealth, rank, or honor.
Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity was founded on three essential elements of true brotherhood; love, charity, and esteem. Through these founding elements, the Fraternity strives to instill each in our members to furthermore build a better man, for a better world.
TKE at Virginia Tech has adopted a membership development program known as the "The Blueprint" provide to us by our International Headquarters. The Blueprint Program is an innovative and interactive program that leads participants through their collegiate career with a structure for life-long learning. The BluePrint is a program completely devoid of Hazing that aims to help build better men for a better world! Our two main goals as an organization are to make our philanthropy cause known, St. Jude, and to help develop better men for a better world.
