Tri Delta’s Tatum Zyglocke leads more than $45,000 philanthropy week for St. Jude
BLACKSBURG, Va. — Tatum Zyglocke, director of philanthropy for the Beta Nu chapter of Delta Delta Delta (Tri Delta) at Virginia Tech, led a fall philanthropy week that raised over $45,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Zyglocke led the annual Delta House of Pancakes (DHOP), Cookout for a Cure, raffles, and educational tabling to promote St. Jude’s mission. Through peer outreach and campus engagement, the chapter surpassed its goal, attracting students and community members throughout the week.
Members noted Zyglocke prioritized planning, training, and clear roles to keep the week organized. She managed vendors, campus reservations, volunteer shifts, and connected each event to a simple call to action for donations or volunteering. The chapter also utilized social media platforms to share patient stories and promote donation links, reaching beyond in-person attendees.
“Tatum did an outstanding job leading our chapter this year during our fall philanthropy week. She dedicated her entire summer to planning each event, reserving entertainment, catering, décor, and sponsorships for DHOP and Cookout for a Cure, and coordinating member support,” shares Suellen Sawyer, a philanthropy co-chair. “She also spent the past two summers in Memphis at Tri Delta National Headquarters philanthropy training, bringing back strategies for fundraising, promotion, and engagement. Thanks to her leadership, we raised over $45,000 — more than double last fall — and she’s already planning for spring. Tatum’s commitment is truly life-changing for the children of St. Jude.”
Nationally, Tri Delta supports St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, whose research and care are shared globally. Chapter leaders reported that the week was successful, generating donations, recruiting volunteers, strengthening chapter collaboration, and setting the stage for ongoing service. The chapter plans to build momentum through education, campus partnerships, and spring philanthropy events.
