Delta Gamma’s Eva Manthe recognized for service, mentorship, and leadership

BLACKSBURG, Va. —  The Delta Rho chapter of Delta Gamma (DG) at Virginia Tech is honoring chapter advisor Eva Manthe for her exemplary service and recent promotion within the national organization. Manthe, formerly the chapter’s Advisory Team Chairman (ATC), was promoted this summer to Regional Collegiate Specialist (RCS) for Region 2, which covers chapters in Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington, DC, and West Virginia.

Delta Gamma leaders said Manthe’s impact is clear in daily operations and long-term growth. As ATC, she coordinated and coached the management team and directors, stayed available for meetings and travel, and kept the chapter aligned with national standards. Members called her the “strongest pillar” of the Virginia Tech chapter’s recent success.

The current chapter president, Kate McGuiness, shares: “Having Eva as I transitioned from Vice President of Member Education into Chapter President this year was the greatest blessing. [. . .] Every chapter officer and member has the highest admiration for her. I [am] consistently grateful for Eva’s support and excited to keep working with her on a regional level as she steps into this new role.”

Members credited Manthe with balancing accountability and encouragement. “Eva has been nothing but extremely supportive throughout my term as Director of Special Events and [my] first semester as Vice President of Social Standards,” Ginger Umstadter said. “She instilled in me not to be discouraged [. . .] but rather to be solution-focused and move forward with confidence. [. . .] Even when I am uncertain, Eva helps me develop a plan of action. [The chapter] is lucky to have someone like Eva.”

Others said Manthe’s mentorship drove personal and organizational success. “When I served as Vice President of Membership for two years, Eva was a steady force that supported me and the rest of our team through it all,” Lucy Grace Harding said. “She not only challenged me to grow in ways I couldn’t imagine, but was there with me to celebrate every victory, both big and small. I feel so blessed to have been introduced to Eva through DG and am lucky to have such a strong role model.”

Former chapter leaders said Manthe’s presence shaped their approach to service and decision-making. “Having Eva as the [chapter] advisor during my presidency was truly one of the greatest gifts of my leadership experience,” Colleen Curran, 2024 chapter president, said. “She consistently showed up for our chapter and supported every decision our leadership team made with confidence and support. Her mentorship helped me navigate challenges with resilience, and her unwavering belief in both me and the chapter allowed me to truly grow as a leader, chapter member, and friend. Eva was constantly pushing us to think outside of the box, stick up for what we believe in, and remind us why we do good. Even during difficult times, she remained committed to what was best for the chapter.”

As Manthe moves from her ATC role to RCS, chapter members expect her influence to continue through training, standards alignment, and leadership development at Virginia Tech and beyond. The chapter is grateful for her guidance and excited for her impact across Region 2 chapters.
