Sigma Alpha
Pi Chapter
Since our chartering in January 1992, the Pi Chapter of Sigma Alpha Sorority has been dedicated to creating an environment where women with a passion for agriculture can learn, lead, and form lifelong friendships. We are a social and professional sorority, rooted in our pillars of Scholarship, Fellowship, Leadership, and Service. Our sisterhood strives to cultivate women who excel personally, professionally, and within their communities.
Our purpose extends far beyond the collegiate experience. We aim to foster high ideals of friendship among women in agriculture, promote academic and professional growth, and inspire a genuine commitment to serving others. Whether through supporting local farmers, volunteering, or sharing agricultural education in classrooms, our sisters are devoted to making a meaningful impact across Southwest Virginia.
Our chapter has welcomed more than 600 women since its founding, each contributing to a legacy of leadership, service, and sisterhood. Sigma Alpha was founded in 1978 at the Ohio State University by five women who wanted an alternative to the social Greek sorority system. Since that time, Sigma Alpha has become a national organization consisting of more than 70 chapters, comprised of undergraduate and alumnae members. Today, we have more than 19,000 members nationwide.
Sigma Alpha is more than a sorority; it is a lifelong network of women who share a purpose, a passion, and a bond that extends far beyond graduation. Agriculture is more than just a field; it is a way of life. Joining our sisterhood means finding a home where you will be supported, challenged, and empowered to grow into the best version of yourself.
